Halloween is Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. The City of High Point fills the three weeks before it with free and low-cost events at its parks, the High Point Museum and the library, and the biggest haunted attraction in the area, Spookywoods, is about six miles south in Archdale. Here is what is still to come.

Updated Oct. 26: Movie-ween, the Halloween Safari, Ghoulash! and Howl-O-Ween have passed; added Scary Stories at the library Thursday, Oct. 29.

Spookywoods at Kersey Valley

Spookywoods, at Kersey Valley in Archdale, has run since 1985. Wagons carry groups across more than 85 acres of the working farm between three haunted “worlds.” It opens on select nights through Nov. 7; the season calendar and tickets are on the ticket site, and the organizer says most nights sell out. Parking is $10 a car, cash only. It is a scare attraction, not a children’s event. The same farm’s daytime corn maze is on our fall festivals and pumpkin patches page.

Already this season

These city traditions have taken place: Oak “Holloween” at Oak Hollow Marina on Oct. 9, the Boo Bash Carnival at City Lake Park on Oct. 10, with the Spooky Train and Creepy Carousel, and, on Oct. 17, Barktober Fest at Oak Hollow Festival Park, the free Halloween Spooky Hoopla trunk-or-treat at the High Point Athletic Complex and the museum’s 15th annual Ghost Stories in the Historical Park. Movie-ween at City Lake Park and the Halloween Safari at the Piedmont Environmental Center followed on Oct. 23-24. Watch for them again next October.

Halloween safety

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Halloween food safety tips say to give children a light meal or snack before they head out, have them wait until they get home to eat anything, and throw away any treat that is not commercially wrapped or shows signs of tampering. Daylight saving time ends the next morning, Sunday, Nov. 1.
