Labor Day 2027 is Monday, Sept. 6. The federal holiday honors American workers, and in High Point it pushes trash pickup back a day, closes the library and schools, and marks the last day of the outdoor pool season at City Lake Park.

- High Point Public Library, 901 N. Main St.: closed on Labor Day (Sept. 7 in 2026), according to its hours page.
- Guilford County Schools: Monday, Sept. 6, 2027, is a holiday on the 2027-28 traditional calendar; school starts Monday, Aug. 23.
- Police, fire and 911 run as normal.
Last days at the pool
In 2026 the High Point City Lake Park Aquatic Center, 602 W. Main St., Jamestown, ran daily through Aug. 9, then opened weekends only from Aug. 15 through Labor Day Monday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission was $10 for High Point residents 3 and older and $15 for nonresidents; children 2 and under are free. Washington Terrace Pool closed for the season after Aug. 9. The 2027 schedule will be on our summer camps and pools page.
